Milkshake!
Friday, December 30, 2005
NOTE: will blog more about the peer leaders training held yesterday tomorrow since I am too lazy to write it now.
those who went for the peer leaders training yesterday would have heard of Milkshake and the girls' reluctance to do a demonstration.
while you see an example done by stanley, it still does not make much sense to you does it?
secret agent deskoh91 went on a mission to uncover the truth that lies behind this mysterious Milkshake...
it is actually a song called Milkshake sang by Kelis back in 2003. the song sounds rather normal and has a great rhythm.
BUT
watch the video and you will know what the deal is all about.
http://www.ifilm.com/ifilmdetail/2483161?htv=12
an excrept of the lyrics:
my milkshake brings all the boys to the yard
and they're like, it's better than yours
damn right its better than yours
I can teach you but I have to charge...

New Links!
Friday, December 23, 2005
other than surfing friends' blogs (which isnt usually extremely exciting), I surf other more famous blogs too. thus I created the reads section.
there lists the top picks I have for the few "celebrity" blogs, most of them singaporeans and one malaysian.
let me introduce you to the various links:
Atypical Singaporean: Interesting blog that critiques on the bits and pieces of the latest happenings in Singapore.
Haro Singapore!: Documents the interesting (though usually negative) side of Singapore through pictures and humour.
Kenny Sia: Humourous Kuching blogger detailing interesting happenings in his life through photos.
Kok Mun: A friend of my cousin and I dont personally know him so he is listed here. He usually blogs about some of the philosophies and ideas of his. Rather inspiring blog.
Mr Brown: Lets you know more about the latest news around the world presented in a easy-to-read manner.
Also creates humourous podcasts usually slamming the current affairs in Singapore such as the pianist who got away from NS with only a fine and the NKF Saga.
Writes a weekly column in Today, the free newspaper published by MediaCorp Press.
Mr Miyagi: Good friend of Mr Brown. Helps in the podcast of Mr Brown. Blog also has a similar scope as Mr Brown except it has less about his own life and lesser commentary.
It is like the Silkair of Singapore Airlines. Cheaper and smaller edition of the same thing.
Rambotan: A Singaporean currently studying in Chicago. Small titbits about his life. Interesting thing is the video show of his.
Wei Yuan: Same as Kok Mun, and still the same cousin's friend. His insights are usually darker than Kok Mun's.
Xiaxue: The infamous blogger of Singapore. Known to offend many while still having a large fanbase. A constant winner of the Best Asian Blog category in the Weblog Awards held yearly.
guess that is all. enjoy the links.

Update on life

(Post date edited to reflect actual date of events)
yesterday I went to Plaza Singapura with my parents at around 10+ in the morning to sign up for MaxOnline 6500.
took the MRT to Dhoby Ghaut and alighted only to discover I have no clue how to reach Plaza Singapura. luckily the station staff told us to exit through Exit D.
finally located the StarHub shop at L1 and is served shortly. the person explained everything I already searched online and knew again. except I have to pay the first month subscription immediately.
so I had to pay $202.55 upfront since I have to buy modem and also activate the service. wtf.
went home and set up the modem. keep having problems until I realised I set my settings wrongly.
so now I am on MaxOnline 2000 (need wait a few days to become 6500) typing this.
today, I went to my aunt's workplace to fax the required documents to get the free laptop over. stayed there a while for a chat before leaving for my grandma house at Bukit Panjang.
I took MRT from Clementi to Jurong East and to Choa Chua Kang and took LRT to Bukit Panjang and walked over. cost me quite some money I guess.
my grandma told me interesting events from some time ago and about my parents. it is truely a "grandmother story" (extremely long winded) but at least I knew about quite a lot of stuff from her.
and I had to wait till night (from 2+) for dinner before going home. slept nearly 2 hours while my cousin played maplestory.
nothing else too eventful except I came home at about 8.45pm.

Republishing results of quizzes
Sunday, December 18, 2005
I believed I did that sometime back, but I just wanted to try again to see if there are any changes in the final results.
this blogging personality quiz is the one that started the craze. and I am putting it together in this same group now to consolidate the posts
yes I am an only child. most characteristics are correct as well.
regarding this, it is kind of a mixed bag. I usually keep secrets if I have been instructed to unless I knew it isnt true. I am okay as a peacemaker but not exactly lucky =(
the description for this ideal relationship thing is pretty accurate as well. nothing much to say then.
it isnt exactly quick, but much shorter than other real IQ quizzes you can find. not too far from the 110 I got through a formal test.
and they are joking about the mathematical intelligence part. I wouldnt do so badly for my maths if it is true.
and I dont think my logic and general knowledge is that bad is it?
well I am not a eunuch. and I do not exactly get along real well with the females yet. still have lots more to learn...
and the finale! how addicted am I to BlogThings? okay not so bad yet.

Your Blogging Type is Social and Responsible |

yes I am an only child. most characteristics are correct as well.
| You Are Likely an Only Child |
![]() At your darkest moments, you feel frustrated. At work and school, you do best when you're organizing. When you love someone, you tend to worry about them. In friendship, you are emotional and sympathetic. Your ideal careers are: radio announcer, finance, teaching, ministry, and management. You will leave your mark on the world with organizational leadership, maybe as the author of self-help books. |
regarding this, it is kind of a mixed bag. I usually keep secrets if I have been instructed to unless I knew it isnt true. I am okay as a peacemaker but not exactly lucky =(
| Your Personality Profile |
![]() You are nurturing, kind, and lucky. Like mother nature, you want to help everyone. You are good at keeping secrets and tend to be secretive. A seeker of harmony, you are a natural peacemaker. You are good natured and people enjoy your company. You put people at ease and make them feel at home with you. |
the description for this ideal relationship thing is pretty accurate as well. nothing much to say then.
| Your Ideal Relationship is Serious Dating |
![]() You're not ready to go walking down the aisle. But you may be ready in a couple of years. You prefer to date one on one, with a commitment. And while chemistry is important, so is compatibility. |
it isnt exactly quick, but much shorter than other real IQ quizzes you can find. not too far from the 110 I got through a formal test.

well I am not a eunuch. and I do not exactly get along real well with the females yet. still have lots more to learn...
| You Are 70% Boyish and 30% Girlish |
You are pretty evenly split down the middle - a total eunuch. Okay, kidding about the eunuch part. But you do get along with both sexes. You reject traditional gender roles. However, you don't actively fight them. You're just you. You don't try to be what people expect you to be. |
and the finale! how addicted am I to BlogThings? okay not so bad yet.
| You Are 55% Addicted to Blogthings |
![]() You're a Blogthings fiend - addicted but not totally dependent. So what if you know your personality type by heart? And while you may feel like Blogthings is crack... There are people much worse off than you! |
Something about J-Stars
PREFACE: Please read this entry in Unicode (UTF-8).
I had completed the entire series of Wang Zi Bian Qing Wa some time back during the holidays and I knew the show is starred by 7 Flowers and 183 Club from Jungiery Stars.
one of the leading female character, which I had forgotten her name in the show but she is the girl who ming dao chose eventually. I always thought she was just those independent stars managed by J-Stars like cyndi.
that is until I thought I saw her in the description of 7 Flowers after the end of the PSC show today (I dont watch the show usually) which features that group.
and I went online to check stuff out and I saw this http://www.jungiery.com/info/star7.html. at the bottom of the bio shows 团体: 2004 - 7朵花
call me slow but I never knew it till now.

PREFACE: I would like to clarify that my sarcastic remarks did not mean any harm and it is just the usual stabs to liven things up (even if it is wrong and I usually do). so no hard feelings about it.

zp's Rukia banner look like some out of place advertisement he was paid to put on his blog. actually I did this quiz some time ago but did not generate any code for it. so here it is.
and I am RUKIA! yes my favourite Bleach character along with ichigo! *ignores extra people who insists on Renji X Rukia*
in case you are wondering, I am not happy that I changed gender (actually I didnt even change gender) but happy that the quiz is rather accurate and it is rukia =D
go and attempt the quiz at http://www.bleachportal.net/bleach/interactive/pquiz/index

Closure of Costa Sands East Coast
Friday, December 16, 2005
you might have heard it on news that NTUC Costa Sands East Coast Resort, or basically most of the chalets over at east coast park will be closed starting January 2006.
this means everyone will choose Sentosa for their holiday and will have to pay the rather expensive entrances fees to the various attractions there. more money for gahmen.
then next time they will build a chalet at Downtown Marina also (where the "Integrated Resorts" are other than Sentosa)
and then you think of the reason they gave, that is the 30 year lease for the land expired, its either they cannot renew already or it may be just a reason to cover up.
if it is, I yet again have another perfect explanation for it.
back when we had our class chalet, it is at another branch of NTUC Costa Sands Resorts. namely NTUC Costa Sands Pasir Ris Resort. basically the funds come from the same place.
during our class chalet we used hell a lot of water. (refer to post dated November 14 2005) and this must have cost Costa Sands a lot of money. it cost so much that they cant pay for the renewal of their East Coast resort anymore.
later on Lianhe Wanbao you see "Actual reason for closure of East Coast chalet is due to a class from CSS"
fame. exactly what the principal wanted. well, bad publicity is better than no publicity.

the song currently played, Believe Me by Fort Minor featuring BoBo and Styles of Beyond, is a faster and louder song compared to the last one. I dont really understand the lyrics, but the beats and tempos are nice.
I believe it is quite a popular song as I seemed to have heard it on radio before. the reason for the change is because I thought the previous songs are well...too soft. so I am progressively getting louder with each new song. hoho.

Phyo and Bahari dropping by
Monday, December 12, 2005
(Post date edited to reflect date of event)
today is the day when phyo brought his notebook with an almost dead battery (that lasts at most 15 minutes) over for some routine maintanence work. he decided to invite bahari along as well to erm..offer technical advice.
they arrived at around 11.05AM. phyo called me twice without me realising since the phone is in silent mode. I only went down after I took a look at the phone at around 11.20AM.
I brought them up and we started with all the connetion of wires and booting up the notebook. I took out the rather newly bought cross ethernet cable and connected it from his notebook to my computer.
the cable was bought last friday when bahari suggested using that as the method to transfer files between the computers.
however, setting up isnt as simple as plug and play. when I checked the Network Places tab, nothing is shown! then began the process of verifying domains, testing netsends, numerous reboots and reconnecting of cables, all to no avail.
we then left that aside and phyo insisted we watch American Pie's Band Camp. yes the M18 one. it is real boring since I watched it before. zz.
one and a half hours later, we are back to work. we used USB drives since we cant get the darned cable to work. it is real slow with only two files at once. bahari suddenly reminded me whether any firewalls are running.
I finally discovered what is wrong. THE DARN FIREWALLS ARE ENABLED. so I had to disable all of them and we finally could transfer the files over LAN and saving us lots of trouble.
after backing up. we got into formatting. phyo wanted to use recovery disks so it is a no-brainer from there onwards. and we started to watch American Pie, thanks to phyo's again. what a bugger.
phyo watched the movie while bahari and I worked on the notebook. he only needed a few essentials to be installed so the formatting and installation part is done quickly.
the burning of files to DVDs are done quickly as well. 20 minutes is rather fast for nearly 10GB of files.
and by then it is 6.45PM or something and they all headed home. and I had to clean up all the mess.

Creative Fest and Jurong Point
Friday, December 09, 2005
NOTE: Another photolog just below this post.
I went to Creative Fest today with Bahari and Phyo. we met at about 10.15AM at Jurong East MRT station.
we waited a while and since we saw no indication of a shuttle bus, we decided to walk there. when we hardly moved twenty steps, bahari spotted the shuttle bus and we sprinted back for the bus. zz.
upon arrival at about 10.45AM, we still had to wait a while because the star buys people had to enter and get their stuffs first before we could. it about 11AM when the queue really started to move, something I am already used to since I come for the fest everytime.

this is the entrance to the creative store. they shifted it this september. guess they finally knew that building the store on the second storey isnt very clever after all...
upon reaching there, I knew exactly where and how they would dump their refurbished products so I proceeded to the corners and scanned for a unmarked brown box. to my horror, the T5400 is bundled with the Audigy 2 ZS at S$105!
I didnt take the offer. and it is gone in 10 or 15 minutes. soon later I see a box with the A2ZS torn away. I took it eagerly but the stupid staff there said no it isnt sold this way. (as if...)

I just knew that you could actually buy them seperately later on. now I pray hard they still have stocks left for tomorrow...
then I went to the customer care section which is within the store as well...

since there is some water vending thing there and it is free, I drank three cupfuls of the cold water there to prevent me from committing arson on the building because of the T5400 promotion. (back then that is)
got this tiko there asking creative staff to demonstrate to him how to use his newly bought Zen Nano Plus (or MuVo Micro N200). he keep staring at the girl when she is doing the demo. wtf.
we then browsed around the shelves and saw this new product. Divi Cam 428.

it has only digital zoom and feels rather light so I would say get a real DV if you are into some serious filming.
we also saw this shelf of X-Fi cards. I own the XtremeMusic one which I bought at S$179 as a promotion last time, which is lower than their current S$229.

situated outside is the booth where you can extend your membership by updating your particulars. what a gimmick. I did that last september and now my membership ends September 2007.

we decided to walk back and chose the path that goes under the MRT tracks. it has some features of normal roads.
please ignore phyo for being so extra in my photos since he kept overtaking me and cuts in when I press the capture button.

these are the normal roads which you travel on...

this is an expressway...

this is a roundabout...

this is a flyover...

and this is a zebra crossing.
the ground is rather muddy since it just stopped raining. it is not obvious in these shots since they only appear later into the path when I stopped taking pictures.
then we took MRT to Lakeside for Bahari to get his vouchers and we headed to Jurong Point and Bahari applied for a Tapz card with that voucher, giving him $30 value.
they played daytona and some shooting game and left after that.
the we dropped by Toys'R'Us where there is this rather real imitation of some creatures.

phyo is feeling extremely orgasmic with the "snake" on his shoulder. haha.

bahari and phyo having nothing better to do and made two snakes kiss each other.

the snake on the floor. it is actually made up of many movable parts and could wriggle rather crazily.

and since it is Toys'R'Us, how can we forget titbits? it is the store for the kids after all.
so this ends the day. tomorrow I have to go down to Creative again to try my luck and get the speakers.

so this ends the day. tomorrow I have to go down to Creative again to try my luck and get the speakers.
Combined picturelog
Finally I took a good look at the photos I took and sorted stuff out to post them up. the events happened too long ago for me to remember what exactly happened but at least I still remember why I took these pictures. so here they are.
National StrITwise Challenge 2005
it is some competition that comprises of RoboCode (Robot Programming), RoboDesign (Robot Design) and IT Quiz all in one. the overall winner wins 6 PSPs. of course that isnt us. held in Ngee Ann Polytechnic Convention Centre in the first or second week of November.

How Ngee Ann Polytechnic Convention Centre looked from the outside.

it is obvious from here that Ngee Ann Polytechnic is clearly built on a hill.

as I am informed rather last minute, I arrived late and had to rush upstairs for the briefing which had already began. a shot after I settled down and was feeling bored.

what you will see on the screens on both sides of the auditoriums when there is nothing going on.

how the podium looks when it is not being used. took this shot near the end of the day.

a view of the glass walls from inside

the entire entrance shot in a more artistic way

the entire entrnce shot in a more artistic way...from another side

the poorly decorated booth of ours. the powerpoint slides were printed by me which I brought there.

the voting for the most popular robot design competition. bahari just happened to scratch his neck while I am taking the shot.

where you get your tea breaks and packets of lunch from. when it is unoccupied it is much warmer and comfortable than the main area of the hall. the guy at the corner is charging his DV.

after all winners were annouced and prizes were given out, everyone started to leave. a shot taken before I left that place at 5+
Random shots of bears
I believe I taken these shots some weeks ago when I am at my cousin's house. the bears had been there for a long time but I just decided to suddenly take a shot of them.

the chicken little is taken at the class outing at cathay cineleisure causeway point.

some cute and furry dog. quite nice to touch actually. there is also a white version but I cannot find it.

cookie monster beside the computer monitor of my cousin. it is actually my account you see in the backdrop since I go there rather often.

a bear looking thing that is actually just a tissue holder, placed beside the monitor as well.

group photo taken at the sofa bed of my cousin. I left the tissue holder out because I find it extremely out of place.
today's outing to Creative Fest with Bahari and Phyo will be detailed in the next post.

New Blogskin
Thursday, December 08, 2005
since I am rather free and zp reminded me that ichigo (the guy in the previous blogskin) had long achived bankai and I am still using the picture of him with his zanpakuto in normal form. so I decided to change the blogskin
this skin is also related to Bleach. but this time, instead of just ichigo, you see ichigo and rukia, my two favourite characters! now ichigo wont feel so lonely anymore =D screw all buggers who say orihime will be with ichigo! it is gonna be rukia!
that debate aside, another reason I chose this skin is because it has a wider space for the postings, meaning I could put larger sized pictures =D that is also the reason I did not go with those link-based blogskins.
I didnt change the song because I just changed it yesterday. I dont care if the song dont fit with the blogskin.

Background Music
Wednesday, December 07, 2005
I decided to throw in some background music for the blog again since it is getting a bit too quiet. I chose this song because it is quieter than those japan anime songs I like.
it is called Zhen Ai by Club 183. it is the ending song for the show I recently watched called Wang Zi Bian Qing Wa (or Prince who turns into a frog).
nothing else to say. so I shall end here.

3rd "Initiative" Meeting and after that
it has been quite a long time since I last updated something about myself. I finally decided to write something pertaining to my life.
================
today is that lameass initiative meeting again when we basically learnt about how to write a proper proposal from farhan. other than that and a switching of some positions, nothing else important is inside. so lets not bother about it.
but the focus of this meeting is I took pictures of phyo's nails to prove how long they are. I also took mine before I cut just for comparison.

Mine

Mine, on closer inspection

Phyo's

Phyo's on closer inspection
oh. I think I forgot to put the warnings. but still it is not my concern if you had just regurgitated all of your breakfast, lunch and dinner from three days ago because you are overreacting.
================
after that the girls went for their choir with josef while the rest of us left for the playground (the one I went many times). for this we played mainly with the swing before going to the nearby temporary hawker centre (peng tiong insists that instead of food centre) and had nasi lemak. it is your typical lunch at a hawker centre so let's continue.
after that they decided to play crocodile at the playground. there is one person on level ground who will try to touch any part of the other few persons on the higher ground (the playground). the person on level ground must not touch the "floor" of the higher ground (but can climb on the structures around it) and vice versa.
lousy me kept losing in the game. but at least I managed to catch farhan and dinuraj in the end, though after a long time. the game is okay except it is rather streneous and drains quite a lot of your energy.
===============
after that we went to Jurong Regional Library when I played with farhan's iPod Nano while trying hard not to touch the side of the player in case I leave fingerprints before I realised he meant dont touch the back -.-" wasted my precious effort in balancing my fingers...
then farhan and peng tiong headed to orchard and bugis. one to work, the other to buy portable hard disk from Sim Lim Square.
the rest of us went home and that is the end of the day.

Updates to Links section
Tuesday, December 06, 2005
I added lots of links which I removed sometime ago due to inactivity back into the list again since the owners are and swear that they will update often again. To prove their sincerity, all of them changed their blogskins.
another reason I mentioned them is because some of the background music found in the list of blogs there are hosted by me. so of course I must mention and let you all be wowed by the speed and quality of the background music compared to advertisements-infested iwebmusic or whatever.
rather unfortunately, some of them dont seem as if they are gonna keep this up for a long time. especially after school reopens. so appreciate them while you can.

An Update Finally
Sunday, December 04, 2005
quite a few things happened this few days but I am too lazy to list them all out so I will list as much as possible summarised.
finally went to buy the school books yesterday. the queue does not appear to be very long but each person takes a long time and some even buy two or three sets at once, making the wait longer and more irritating.
the people in front of me did not buy a lot of books and the total cost are typically $100. only me spent nearly $180. the people behind me took a glance in curiosity.
should have gotten the books from my cousin last year. at least there are notes on it to make studying for the exam easier =D
after buying the books, upon seeing that there are people buying school pants as well, my mother insisted I buy mine too.
the school pants is rather comfortable and not as tight as I expected it to be. the length is also okay with some excess so it wouldnt get too short too soon. it is expensive though for it is $23 for one of them.
flipped through the various books bought and saw that there is much more to memorise for the next year. good luck to myself.
I finally cut my nails today after nearly 2 months. took some pictures of before and after but thought it was rather disgusting to show your own nails. so I dropped the idea.
