TB31 celebrated maycee and my birthday together this day last week and I haven't blogged about it!

to be honest, the celebration was more for maycee la lol. but then never mind la, imagine a bit liao still okay haha...

still, have to thank anqi huihui dacia and justin for the present (which I can already guess without opening the box lol) and for their idea (I believe).

they went JP, which is kinda like the home ground for me. so I brought them around lo and eventually we ate at ajisen.

the spicy ramen like not as spicy as the one at bugis junction. next time I take the mountain one haha. ok kidding.

we ended up being 20 over minutes late for the movie. wanted to watch Curious Case of Benjamin Button at first but nobody liked to sit in first 3 rows. so we changed to Red Cliff 2, but apparently simon and his friend watched before. sorry!

majestic is majestic la. the story may be slightly slow but its alright I guess, thanks to the amount of action.

its funny how anqi and dacia went to buy present and cake but got lost trying to find their way back and called me, but was extremely anxious to not let me go find them. justin eventually went lol.

anyway eventually they passed us the presents and sang us birthday song for second time (first was at ajisen when we cut the cake) just outside the JP1 side entrance then we went back after that. poor hup song reached home at around 12.30am I think lol.

anyway, I would like to thank (in alphabetical order) anqi dacia esther huihui hupsong justin maycee simon and his friend (sorry forgot your name!) and yujia for bothering to attend this.

even if without the celebration part, I still think it is cool to have a class outing with a not bad attendance like this. so thank you for coming!

after much procrastination (contract expired since Dec 2008), I decided its time to get a new phone. Nokia 3120c is a backup phone, and it should remain that way so any one in my family can fall back on that if their mobiles fail.

at first I wanted to get the Nokia N85, but its price has been stuck at $538 ever since its $298 promo ended somewhere early December 08. so I decided to look around elsewhere.

then I chanced upon the Samsung i900 Omnia and Samsung F480 while browsing through the touchscreen LCD at JP2's hello@SingTel shop. both are touchscreen, which I thought will be a nice change. and both are cheaper than N85. so I looked online for info about them.

along the process, I found more phones, some cheaper (LG Viewty KU990 and LG Secret KF750), some more expensive (Samsung Pixon and INNOV8, HTC Touch HD), some off the market (HTC Touch Diamond, main rival of Omnia). so I was really confused and tempted at the same time.

eventually I just bought the Omnia cos the camera is significantly better than F480, runs on Windows Mobile and it fits my large hands better, even if a lot more expensive. I justified by saying I only change once every 2 years (which is really dumb but really true).

so I bit the bullet and got my new baby this wednesday.

melissa has fractured her leg on the fateful first day of the CNY. after delaying treatment for 11 days (she went to chinese sinseh which actually makes bone injuries worse. they are useful for sprains. a little info sharing here.), she was put on a cast only last thursday.

with that cast, she cant move around properly so I went over to her house to keep her company for much of this week. its rather uneventful so I wont go on about it, but for today...

I bought some roses for her for valentine's day. had it delivered since I am not sure if I could keep the roses fresh till today myself.



she likes it. but I expected like ten times more emotion when she received it, like crying screaming and all that stuff. but dont have. slight disappointment.

and I also finally sent the notebook for service today (yesterday actually considering its nearly 3am). I emphasised multiple times that more should be done since I had to service it 5 times. the CSO named Daryl Khoo promised that they would check if they should replace the mainboard as well.

looking forward to their phonecall on monday. if they dont replace the motherboard, I will try my utmost best with a mixture of threat and plea to make them do so.

the only studying I did this week was on Thursday. ended up not studying much as I ended up chatting and playing facebook games with yujia and esther.

I was quite sad about thursday cos I felt I could not help them as much as I had promised. my business stats wasn't that good after all. sorry!

anyway, this simply means I have a lot of studying left with time running out by the second. seeing how everyone had already gotten into their revisions, its high time I stop being such an ass and really sit down and revise.

its really time to study, and I hope I can do just that starting tomorrow. good luck to everyone for the finals too!

it felt as if plenty has happened since my last post that was created technically last year. but actually, they are more or less the same.

before this term started, I had already anticipated a really crazy time. being only 6weeks and with a chinese new year break, I have at least one deadline to meet every week of this term.

I can quickly run you through the intense amounts of deadlines since this term started on 5th January this year. the % represent the percentage of total marks the project represent of the module.

there are still tutorials and lectures as usual during these weeks. this is the main reason for my lack of presence here.

I am sure you noticed the extreme imba-ness of my deadlines on week 17. many reasons.

but I am starting on a happier note first. so that is for later.

my birthday is this saturday, february 7th! please wish me a happy birthday by sms at least so I can feel happier.

I promise I will remember birthdays better next time! my bro and my good friend's birthday just passed and I actually didnt remember them! damn guilty can. I must drill it into me that birthdays are important occasions!

and my poly classmates from this semester are going to celebrate mine, maycee and junxiang's birthday together since our birthdays are only days apart (feb 7th, 9th and 11th respectively).

even though its not just for me, I am still very happy that people bother to remember my birthday when I dont remember theirs.

that is why I am determined to remember birthdays and start to think that they are important before others will do the same to me.

I am learning so please give me time.

anyway its going to be a movie and a dinner. erm... a bit boring. expected some booze. k nevermind. but hey, its the thought that counts.

and its timing is perfect. after this hellish week, I am sure everyone is looking for a break anyway. and its going to my birthday. yay! at least it isnt spent rushing projects or sth.

duno how to end this part. still quite happy. hope it really happens though and not just lip service =(

OBSE final group project is supposed to be on Week 16. but CNY.
CATS assignment 2 supposed to be on Week 16. but laptop crashed. (shit. more on it later)
CATS self-reflection same as assignment 2.

now that I am still barely alive after the ordeal of this week (3 presentations 1 report 1 test in total from mon to wed). I still have to edit CATS video again.

yeah fuck. bth already. I edit the video until damn nice last Friday till 1+am. I was encoding it and the laptop hung. so I thought maybe sth wrong but nevermind. after all I just saved the video project file.

I turned off and on again. the notebook doesnt boot.

ya rly. (sarcastic)

I tried once again. twice again. ten times. many many times over again. but it still doesnt get past the loading screen.

it got past once and I quickly logged in. but it failed to hang on long enough at the desktop before a bluescreen and it restarted.

since then cannot boot already.

everyone I mentioned the incident to told me wtf. I thought it is very wtf also. especially cos it is such a busy week and my OBSE and CATS stuff is all inside. best part is I am just done.

so we postponed the presentation to this friday, and I had to redo the video. lucky the unedited files are still on my camera's memory card.

but I must say I am still slightly amazed by the coincidence of everything.

- the ITB database was not with me. was with maycee.
- CATS presentation was with shun hui.
- only slightly started on OBSE report then.
- I backed up my stuff to the portable HDD on Week 16's monday. I usually dont bother backing up unless I am real free.

considering how usually all the final copies of projects are with me. and how many projects there are this time...

despite this mother-of-a-disaster, I guess I have reason to still be glad.

if I kept everything like last time and did not back up, I am sure I will be in a much much sorrier state.

the only thing was perhaps it could have chosen a better time to fail right. zz.

and so I am going to my cousin's house to borrow her notebook till I can send the f...screwed up Fujitsu S6510 for the FOURTH (cum FIFTH) service.

the below are what I have serviced the laptop for before:

- LCD has dead pixels
- hard disk failed (yes failed once before)
- power adaptor failed (just two weeks ago)
- notebook latch broken (planned to fix during semester break at first)

AND NOW THE HARD DISK FAILS FOR THE 2ND TIME.

and I havent even dropped it once!

what on earth is wrong this notebook? people use their notebooks at home and in school and even play games on them.

I only use in school. and I dont play games. I ensure I dont contaminate it with spyware, viruses and trojans (I know my stuff). this model is highly recommended even!

and what is best is everyone using this model has no bloody problems.

I think this particular notebook I own is a fucking lemon lor. (lemon = geek term for problematic set)

fucking suay zzz. when I send this in I am going to try and get a new set. letting them know how many times this shit failed when I dont even use it intensively.

but if they give me a refurbished set then its even more...

ARGH. why did I purchase this notebook that day at that time in school? should have let some other unfortunate bloke get this one.

I dont want to go on about the preparations for the project. it is hellish of course. but I am glad that its over now for me to care so much.
