Inbox - "Gee"'s Parody
Saturday, June 27, 2009
you may have heard the incredibly cute korean song "Gee" by SNSD, an all-female band made up of young, beautiful (read: plastic enhanced) girls:
but are you ready for a parody of the song by another all-male, middle aged bunch of jokers?
I dont care if you dont. keep watching anyway!
the show is subbed. if it doesnt show, press the ^ arrow at the bottom right corner of the player and turn on captions (that CC button).

its another long awaited (okay maybe not so much people are actually waiting for it) post again!
I digged through, resized, watermarked, uploaded and arranged the telematch and station games photos yesterday and decided to go sleep cos it was so tiring.
so I am gonna type all these things out today. I will be talking about the June Camp trial in particular. but that is after some random photos.

on the 3rd batch of K230UB (service 99 I think) with a seat on the front-left side of the bus. nice view.

went for steamboat with ying kang and melissa on saturday just to catch up a bit. glad to know ying kang is adapting relatively well. wish him luck in getting to SP Civil Engineering next year!
we went to the steamboat place at Bugis, then decided its too full, and walked to Suntec, before realising there is no cheap sushi, and walked back to Bugis again. okay la my fault there. should have waited a bit longer.
we spent about 2h there I think, until all of us are so bloated we would rather get charged for wastage. thankfully they didnt lol.

a lame GV scratch and win card. think I got a $1 off coupon. even my usual discount from FairPrice Plus gets more than $1 off zz.
this is from the movie the three of us watched after the steamboat. the movie ended at like 1.30am, just to prove to ying kang there are late night movies at JP on Fridays and Saturdays.

its the first monday of the break, 15th June. I descended on CSS to conduct some trial activities with the seniors and the NMA.
the day started off okay enough till someone kept fighting for a chance to talk during the opening briefing. I mean its ok if you wanna talk, just dont make it seem like you are the one conducting it. thats kinda rude.
pictures and videos for icebreakers are taken from yuling's facebook and jeremy's blog and are hosted on imageshack. pardon the contrast in picture preview sizes.

random shot of everyone listening to briefing.
anyway other than that, the day started with the trial of the various icebreakers...

everyone sitting in a circle, happily playing "daytona". if you wanna know the game please just ask me on MSN.

another game called chucky chucky. ask me on MSN about how to play if you want to.
with all icebreakers comes forfeits...

commonwealth's very own campus superstar Jeremy! doing an unglam forfeit! awww.

Jai's pole dance forfeit. he was the most "on" one among them all!
a video to aid hmm, visualisation of his dance.

this guy was so into it with his gyrations. look at qi en (the girl at bottom right)'s expression.

another bonding game where the people sat on each other's laps to build trust. if you really trust each other, no one person will be supporting extreme amounts of weight.

another shot. apparently they havent trust each other enough yet. this round only have guys playing btw.
and finally I have my own pictures from here on!

the game is about to start at that point of time. just waiting for briefing. seniors are split into two teams to test out the telematch.
campers run from one station to another and finish the entire series before the next member in the camper's team continues through the same series. it goes on till everyone passes.

here the campers will start by spinning 10 rounds.
jiahao is taking the seat of the station master who will supervise the teams and is acting cool at the same time.

they are supposed to arrange this in a 3-2-1 (pyramid) formation vertically to clear their mind up after the 10 rounds.

they are supposed to take a bite of the delicious apple floating in the pail. without the hands. so you dunk your head inside the pail to bite it. many of them cheated and only bit the stalk though. darn.

inside this plate of flour lies polo sweets campers must find once again without hands. use your head as the saying goes. lol.
the potent mix of a water station wetting your face followed by a flour station will give you...

I apologise for being such an ass for planning this two stations. I didnt put them together though.

then they hold this newspaper ball in between their legs and begin hopping like a kangaroo...

...across this and crawl under the two tables that flank nooriman in the middle. (dont know why my photos have all these guys acting cool)
so thats telematch. if you want photos with more humans in them do take a look at http://jeremy-teng.blogspot.com/2009/06/trial-games.html and Yuling's facebook if you can access.
and now for station games.
the following game is called fish 4 life! participants are supposed to use an incredulously long pole to try and fish water bags to their side.

people fishing.

fishes being fished.

the incredulous long pole I just introduced.

and fish on the fish pole.

an accident happened and the water bag exploded right on jason's lap as he filmed his video. funny.

with jason's experience, they decided to modify the game to split the team into two, with some lying down and the others "fishing".
they would switch over whenever a bag explodes. the only purpose is to sabotage and make each other wetter. what are we teaching these kids sheesh.

the station hated by all girls, as you can see, people will pour water from the top into the cups of the other campers holding the cups by their mouth. real wet station.
I didnt plan this one though, so dont blame me =D

updates of the week just past in pictures.

went to Republic Polytechnic Wind Symphony's concert today to support melissa's friends today (or rather saturday which is yesterday).
I stick to my opinion that RP has the best polytechnic campus.
its my first time watching a symphonic band so I cant compare much, but it wasnt bad. I am not very familiar with most of the tunes except Bengawan Solo and Singapura Sunny Island.
it is kinda like watching a movie, $10 and 1.5 hours, but its live and something different for once so its okay.

a 23 level Uno Stacko from Thursday (afternoon before EBA paper). hup song and I decided to join simon, justin, the two esthers and yiting (or is it yiping?) at the board games room and tada.
they played Cluedo (took me a long while to figure out half of the rules), charades before reaching this one.
I believe it is supposed to fall by around 18 decks, but hup song's "midas touch" saved it from falling at his turn, and the game continued till around the 24th before it dropped at simon again.
nearly managed to film it. I was trying to find the video recorder on my phone cos esther ng's ran out of storage space but it fell before I did. oh well nevermind.
==
and on wednesday I went studying with xiuying and denise at Jurong Regional Library. matthew withdrew last minute.
productive enough for me since I havent really had people to study with properly since the O Levels period.
they kept practising their tutorials and revising, which kinda forces me to go with the flow as well, which is a good thing. and their questions asking helps revision.
hope to study with them few again for the finals. will be real helpful.
actually I had a picture but I figured it isnt nice to just post candid photos without permission.
==
and on tuesday (I am moving choronologically backwards!) I went over to the Loft for a while since the SOE Electrical Engineering Division's student welfare officer (who is also a tutor oh well) booked rooms there for them to study in.
it does resemble a chalet a lot, minus the telly. photos will do the talking. it is a girls' apartment and it is this messy. unimaginable.

the locking system they employed. it is based on PIN (up to 6 digits long and changeable).

living area. I thought I took a shot of the ceiling but apparently not. it looks like those in ourspace but in green.

rightmost door leads to the loo. middle leads to one bedroom while the leftmost door cut in half leads to master bedroom. one more bedroom just to the left of that master bedroom.

the room that wasnt shown in the previous picture. none of those are my stuff. other rooms resemble this.
==

the lift upgrading is nearing completion. they are painting the exterior of the lift shafts now. all that is left is to paint the waiting lobbies, railings and remove the wooden boards covering the lift.
it has been a long journey back from October 2006's voting. there is June 2007's announcement of commencement of project and all the cable rerouting works, February 2008's lift shaft lifting and the many waiting lobby and lift installation works that follows till the lift started running seven months from then.
it also means payment time is coming soon zz.

this video is produced by the UK (even though the cast are all japanese) for a product called Oasis, probably a light drink that isnt too sweet and can act as a replacement for water.
a bit difficult to describe the scenario that unfolds in words, so just watch it yourself. watch out for the obvious pun on godzilla (and not just its name).
its only 40 seconds and common test is over. you know you can afford the time. you might want to watch it in HQ instead. much better quality and sound. hope you like it!
==
and today marks the end of the common test season for April Semester 2009 for me.
how is EBA? it wasnt as bad as HRM, neither was it as smooth as CMA.
the MCQs were kinda ambiguous. I must be stumped by at least 4 of them (30 in total). the matching was okay... the short answer questions... I roughly knew what each question want, but its either I cant remember the whole value or I have problems phrasing the answer since I dont know what exactly they want.
I did explain and illustrate the ethical structures, but I dont know what exactly it wanted. does it mean I am supposed to make a decision first and evaluate, or do I give a problem and illustrate with the different scenarios? gah.
nevertheless, melissa and I went PC Show after that. got a cheap $7 notebook cooling pad that apparently isnt working for me cos it draws air right from the bottom, which cant happen with my bed under it. it is like sucking a vacuum. but well its only $7 and it has this cheap bluish glow (self consolation).
oh and it comes with a free "notebook keyboard protector" that is just a cheap piece of translucent plastic more sticky on one side and a little too big for my notebook. marketing gimmicks at its best.
also got plenty of brochures. they are only paid $50 a day. cut them some slack. who knows I may be that unfortunate bloke distributing brochures there next show.
then ate at imperial treasure at marine square, which is quite a copy of crystal jade in case you dont know. its founded by one of those ppl who left crystal jade due to some internal conflicts.
as a result, the food tasted pretty similar. even the price is similar, though imperial treasure is slightly lower without the $2 "starter" that crystal jade does.
then took a long way home on 133 transferring to 7 transferring to 99. waited forever at the suntec bus stop but 502 just didnt arrive. and neither did 97 (which would at least cut one transfer). zzz.
off I go.

a bright and sunny (and hot) afternoon and its time to finish up whatever business I have with this common test season with EBA.
on a friday afternoon, EBA will wrap up the entire common test period of NP (6/6 morning till 12/6 afternoon), which also happens to be my common test period as well.
so FMGT. albeit from the case study (which is all 10m or theory and thus quite unexpected) and some error in the cash budget, the rest is alright. only problem is those two account for about 25marks ~_~
oh and I lost my student card. nearly lost it during CMA when it slipped. this time round I simply didnt remember. during tests and exams I just take it out and hold it with my pencil box and bottle, and thats why it tends to drop easily. so there you go. hope some kind soul returns it to me.
with that, its time for EBA. seems like a long day ahead.

I dont have a lot of time here so I will make it snappy.
HRM was yesterday afternoon. getting the facts in was a real torture, and as a result quite a few definitions slipped through even though I can explain what it was. hope whoever is marking my paper is feeling magnanimous.
estimated loss of between 6-10 marks so far on the abovesaid lack of defitnions or defining the wrong thing altogether.
felt pretty bad about this paper. shall work more for FMGT and hope it turns out better. then its EBA and its the break which is already filled to the brim.
studying with xiuying, matthew and their friend tomorrow at JRL tomorrow. they are hardworking people. hope they will influence me too. seriously ought to get my act together now. I am really not doing things at my best these days.

so this is a video about this little boy called Tan Hong Ming who likes a little malay girl called Umi Kazrina and he dont dare to admit it because he thinks she doesnt like him. but is it?
the message behind this video is to not be prejudiced against race. kinda ironic considering Petronas is owned by the Malayisan government, who supports the bumiputera policy...
guess that is what makes this video more interesting! watch this then continue along the post!

it has been a long time since I last done an inbox post!
I stopped back then mainly because I want to try to do things differently, create a blog that has less wordy life posts and more about myself than like a magazine.
and also because I am kinda lazy to login and share good videos and links I saw as time went on la.
after realising I will never succeed in becoming any less long-winded, and since inbox posts are generally faster to create, I shall try it out again.
and I should go back to HRM. it looks real simple, but its all a false front zz. the tutorials test much deeper than where the notes go, making me worry. zz.
okay back to work.

people who knew me since last year should find this picture incredibly familiar.
I realised I didnt blog for last semester's final exam. quite a waste because I want to know what were my thoughts on them then. but its too late anyway. problem with not blogging often. so I should try to more. hope I can sustain it.
just to introduce to new readers, the picture above is my secondary four classroom. the right side of the third row of desks with the green chair and two neat piles (and a third pile behind that is unseen here) of textbooks is my seat.
anyway, you have heard it all from me yesterday about my lack of preparations for CMA. it is the first time since I started upper sec that I prepared for a major test in less than 24 hours.
thankfully I made it through alive, partially by virtue of the relatively easy paper (nearly everyone thinks it is). can see that they are trying to give chances.
I shudder to think of what Common Test 2 for CMA is going to be like. the last time this happened BSTA pulled a similar stunt, easy CT1 giving way to a really different CT2.
still, something got me for CMA CT1. I didnt take away or add the over/underapplied overheads, which is 4 marks. oh well. I thank silver for enlightening me on that, and not to junxiang who didnt get tricked (joke okay!)
so after that CMA paper, I went studying (a bit) with mel at the school library. it is actually pretty nice there on a saturday afternoon, sunny, but cool with the airconditioning and there is this air of calm around the whole place. probably because everyone is studying hard since it is after all the CT period. if only the library is always that peaceful.
we then watched a movie and had dinner. kinda like a reward for working real hard over the past week, first for the FMGT video, then for EBA presentation then for CMA common test, seeing there is a bit of leeway to relax a bit ahead of Tuesday afternoon's HRM.
but well I think I am relaxing a little too much, and so I worked harder since this noon. but the first lecture of HRM simply isnt giving chances. definition of management and HRM is already hard enough, and now there are 5 steps of HRP. zzz.
okay shant bore you with that. my next update should follow closely after HRM CT.

hey I am sorry for not updating for SO goddamn long!
I write this post with plenty of guilty, out of my obligation towards all those who bother to read my blog despite my sporadic updates. I am sorry for disappointing, and I am now doing my best to give you a glimpse into one of the most hectic times of my life.
this is a long awaited first post in over two months, and I kinda hate to restart blogging on a low note, but in these times, it is totally wrong if I 自欺欺人 and say everything will work themselves out. I must get down there and get the shit done for my own sake.
in fact, even my internet connection is acting up right now as I try to post, as if I dont have enough problems on hand.
yes, its once again near the end of term, and that only means all kinds of projects to hand up and common tests.
I just finished my FMGT video like three days ago, took a short rest and only worked on my EBA database and powerpoint today. big mistake to procrastinate. this literally left me with one day to settle my CMA common test revision.
I hate myself for doing that. but at the same time, I hate the school for moving e-Learning to Week 6. it just doesnt bloody make sense. when it was Week 7 last year, I could use it as a common test study week. now I have to rush projects right to the bloody eve of a common test.
I was never THIS unprepared for a major (20% or more) test before and I am not shy to admit I am really nervous. everyone has got some stuff started and here I am tying loose ends for yet another irritating project.
but it is only when I am done with a project will I have the mood to study properly. I never really multitasked well at things like this...
as common tests comes to a close and my (already packed) 2 weeks break come, I swear I will make some time and update with some pictures. I have some accumulated and I should be able to talk about maybe two or so events. this is only because I know people have been reading and I do not wish to disappoint anyone anymore.
in fact this do-not-wish-to-disappoint is not just in blogging, but in school or at any activities I am part of as well. what people think of me matters to me and I will do my best to live up to them. and so I will do my best for the tests (and hope for the best considering how I am such an idiot for postponing all my stuff).
I will keep everyone posted on my papers as per tradition. this time round I should be studying more at home. going outside may be less lonely, but less productive. try and force myself this time maybe?
I will be signing off for now. see you next update.
