Chronicles of the world from my perspective.

Update again..

Saturday, October 29, 2005

this is the last day 2/3'05 will be staying as a class. while I know I will certainly miss the class as we go onto our different secondary 3 classes. while I hope that we wont lose contact, I knew that time and the amount of work in upper sec will slowly erode our class spirit. still, I would not forget about all of you in this class who left a mark in my heart.

after that rather boring festival, wei lei zp and I went to have cup noodles and went back to school again to wait for those Maths Olympiad project people and that bunch waiting for them as well.

all of us went to that playground near that Jurong Town Council building again as they wanted to go yHub at first but changed their mind later. 2/4'05 seemed to be there for a class outing. we have to entertain ourselves with the other facilities until the swings are available.

basically we had played around before leaving at 1+pm. the final group before leaving, I said something which I think I shouldnt have said. something that will make somebody change the impression towards me. I hope I did not do something that I will regret later on.

I apologise for the briefity.

okay enough about that.

the school is an idiot. after making me spend such a long day at the hall. they did not even give me the yearbook. only some brochure that if it is really the yearbook, I will just burn the school down.

wait.

the school may thank me for it. they wanted to shift to another building because of PRIME anyway. sheesh.

and yesterday we also chose the new design we wanted for the uniform. basically it is designed to look like its tucked in despite being untucked. the school crest and name is also shifted to be on the breast pocket of the shirt. good thing they did not change the colour scheme. it is rather unqiue you know.

they changed shorts to bermudas (should have made the change two years ago to spare me the agony of such a short pair of shorts) and I cannot really see the difference in the pants (I will be wearing it next year so I guess it is best that way)

nothing much too interesting now. so I guess that is all.

Quick Update

Thursday, October 27, 2005

just noticed my post on the 24th was not posted. just republished and it finally went up.

I thought long posts were quite an eyesore so I decided to make a short and quick one before sleeping.

today is the day where all Secondary 2 Express students of CSS choose their subject combinations.

heard many choose econs though they didnt meet requirements since it is "subjected to changes". but then moderation will only be done to a certain level lah to say the truth. sorry for being so direct.

I contradicted what I just mentioned (eng miss criteria by about 5%) and put the economics class as first choice. next comes Biology-Chemistry double science class before Physics-Chemistry double science class.

oh and that system is rather fun. it is a once in a lifetime thing, so go and play around first (without pressing submit) before finally making a decision lah.

tomorrow is the 5 minutes of fame. the performance changed yet again to a simpler one. hope all goes well. tralala.

The wonderful CSS Student Council

Monday, October 24, 2005

if terrence or any student council exco, soon-to-be exco or ex-exco see this, I might just be on the news tomorrow. so turn on your tv at 6.30pm tomorrow ah!
===========================

well, it seems like our "intelligent" student council board has got some crap arranged for us again.

what inter class games lah, IT lesson lah, various school and student oriented surveys lah, "creative performances" lah. all kinds of lame stuff. I would not mind skipping school for these final days.

lamest is that creative performance thing. it is originally that 3 Minutes of Fame thing which I think no one participated. in order to cover up the mistake, the student council decided to make it some lower secondary post exam activity.

then now 1/3 of every lower sec class have to create some performance for the end of year celebrations in the form of some japanese show (which I dont know how to explain).

we are given like 6 hours to practice tomorrow. hopefully I would be maybe just backstage. though being an observer is better =D

then the inter class games sounds even lamer. no idea what it is but it is gonna be some physical since it is on the field. bet not many will bring PE attire tomorrow since less than 10 persons saw that post-exam activities schedule.

and I knew about my maths overall marks (entire year) already. it is a B4. I reached the target for this one. phew.

A not exactly happy update...

================================
END OF YEAR EXAMINATION SCORES

today is the day when we get back ALL the marks, basically it is one round after the other in half to an hour intervals. basically the best way I can summarise it is I am generally at the class average, but I did badly in the 200% subjects, namely maths and science,

a major disappointment, since I worked quite hard for my maths. but all the fucking careless mistakes caused me to lose almost 10 marks in paper 1. I did better for paper 2, but still not enough to compensate for the idiotic errors in paper 1. I should have been more cautious!

english I am generally at the average, or maybe slightly above. but our class is the worst performing for 2E, so.....

for science I find my results acceptable as I had a extremely bad mental block and I cant memorise a thing a day before the exam and I am also somewhere in the class average as well.

mother tongue is of course where I did well again at 81 marks for the final SA2 score (oral + listening + paper 1 + paper 2 in 100%). but still even this cant lift my spirits up as I still cannot forgive myself for the careless mistakes in maths.

history is not exactly chart-topping, slight disappointment here. it is still a middle A1 at 80 marks though. still somewhat surprised since I did not expect to do so well for a paper I practically rushed through.

literature is also at a class average which is a 50+ score. nothing much on this since there is no lit for the subject combinations next year anyway.

CME is 35/50. considered high since I only remember one of those CommonWEALTH values.

================================
SUBJECT COMBINATIONS

got the option form today. the paper is a little unclear on when are we knowing the classes. the only date written there is 27/10 where the "e-streaming" stuff will start at 2pm.

that either meant we can choose (from edulearn I suppose since it is electronic) from that day at 2pm onwards as we know the results or we make a choice before that and combinations and classes will be out that day.

since I am feeling better after expressing how disappointed I am with my maths scores, I shall show all four combinations:

oh and literature is gone. not that I want it anyway.

Option A - 3/1 or the Triple Science class
=============================
Overall score for the entire year must not be below 75%

- English
- Mother Tongue
- Elementary Mathematics
- Additional Mathematics
- Physics
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Geography
- Social Studies + History

Option B - 3/2 or the Triple Humanities class
================================
Must score 65% and above for English and Geography

- English
- Mother Tongue
- E Maths
- A Maths
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Geography
- Social Studies + History
- Economics

Option C - Physics-Chem Class
======================
No particular requirement

- English
- Mother Tongue
- E Maths
- A Maths
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Geography
- Social Studies + History

Option D - Bio-Chem Class
======================
No particular requirement

- English
- Mother Tongue
- E Maths
- A Maths
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Geography
- Social Studies + History

Option B is basically unreachable for me now (English score) and I did better for Physics than Biology, so the extremely popular Option C will be my choice.

for those who are not in the know, in commonwealth, there is usually one class for triple science, one and a half class or so for SS+Lit with Geog and/or BioChem (as they are not very popular choices) and the rest of the 3 1/2 classes (around 3 for this year I guess) will be Physics-Chem classes.

just hope that I would go to a class that I would be able to find some familiar faces.
================================

went to play at the playground at the JE Community Centre that area after school with wei lei. seems to be newly built and it isnt childrens' playground. it is those that have fitness and fun combined, something like that west coast park one, except less challenging.

and that is all for today. and what a long entry. must start removing detail from entries to attract people to read them.

The 3 Extremely Boring Days of Holidays...

Wednesday, October 19, 2005

out of boredom, I decided to watch DN Angel since I bought it from some senior after all. about 13 hours later, I finished the entire series of DN Angel, which is 26 episodes each with a runtime of 25 minutes. so I slept at 2.30am yesterday. hee.

then today got this mass movie outing, though somehow some people will be MIA. they all want to go Jurong Point which has a... pathetic amount of movies running. dont know where they want to go lah but I thought JE better since there is corpse bride there.

so many inactive blogs nowadays. very sian leh. those com spoil one go get it fixed and start posting and those who shut down their blogs reopen it! this forced me to surf mostly "celebrity" blogs nowadays. ya know...

http://xiaxue.blogspot.com
http://www.kennysia.com
http://www.mrbrown.com
http://www.minishorts.net
http://www.rambotan.com

these are the top picks lah. and then I know some of you only know that xiaxue one lah but here are more interesting ones. if you are really bored the archives are worth reading to. and the best thing is they categorise their entries.

since we are on blogs right, I am surfing around HardwareZone yesterday when I came across this http://www.sassyjan-lovediary.blogspot.com.

after looking through numerous entries on various blogs, I am able to give a summarised story of what happened (though not very short):

created by the author of (duh) http://sassyjan.blogspot.com, it is all about a relationship that turned bad. and it just happens recently the woman-beater, kelvin, started a rumour about janice, the victim and owner of sassyjan, was raped and molested by his father or whatever shit.

thus janice decided to go and discuss matters with that woman-beating guy who declined that he ever made such a statement. after hearing about some other girls going through the same thing that happened to her back then (go read the love diary for more info), decided to sort things out with him.

that guy denied everything and thus scarlett ting (http://joewei.blogspot.com and as you can see this is quite a major event spanning across many bloggers) poured the strawberry milkshake (ordered by janice that sassyjan girl before she left) on his face since he has such a big ego hoping to teach him a lesson.

the video is recorded by http://vamptress.v1da.com (yet another blogger!) without the knowledge of both of them and link is posted onto various sites such as kenny sia (http://www.kennysia.com) as well.

the lesson here is to never offend a celebrity blogger, they will come shoot you in many directions in their alliance.

and of course, if you are like the guy described in that love diary, I think you need to wake up and give yourself a few slaps. anyway I dont think any readers of my blog (which is nothing compared to theirs) are such people anyway. not to say many are attached. gee.

oh the video is located here but you may have to click a zillion times until you manged to get it downloaded. it is quite worth the effort though if you remember what type of guy he is.

After CME...

Monday, October 17, 2005

the exam is extremely short to say the least. it ends at around 8.40am. I think my common sense is getting bad since somebody told me CME exam use common sense can already.

there is a lot of things that have to be memorised from the book. some more test on the CommonWEALTH values. only know Tenacity to Achieve. haha. hope I explained it correctly.

dont talk about lame exams. they are officially over. now wait for results (zz)

then after that went to mcdonalds at Jurong Entertainment Centre to eat with wei lei, zp, pys, ck (the CEO), met, jinyee, yik yie, xinyue and some 2/4 girl whom I think called sharon.

the meal is rather uneventful as some of them played cards. what stress lah, dai dee lah, cheat lah those usual suspects.

after that went to that popular look look see see, see can find the spongebob squarepants or not (is jinyee wanna watch, not me -.-"). cannot find, ying sheng the homeboy decides to break free from us and run home and kiss his beloved computer and some of those girls went home, leaving metinee, jinyee, wei lei, zp, CEO and me.

first it is a discussion about some stuff for the class chalet, then somehow the topic kept drifting and drifting away till it becomes something that is totally unrelated to the chalet anymore. some topic that occupied almost 2 hours. make a guess as to what the topic was.

there is this cockup vending machine in Jurong East MRT Station that vends two 500ml bottles of coca cola for 1.30. go discover which machine is it. it costs only 3.90 for 6 bottles after all.

After English Oral Examinations...

Friday, October 14, 2005

I can say I really screwed the oral up...

I stammered quite a lot. but then generally I said just okay. whats more those NT people and those people I know all walked past during the exam. made me lose concentration. I am so dead.

it is loh mf invigilating again (surprise surprise!). somehow everyone talked softly the entire time. not the usual 2/3 with all the noise. mainly because everyone is talking in their own groups maybe.

reuben and padey is flirting with this malay girl from 2/2 called Fatin (now how did I know her name?). first it was padey then soon everyone joined in the conversation out of boredom.

nothing else happened though since I was only in school from 6.20am till 9.05am. so i think next monday will be even more uneventful.

and when is the yearbook arriving?

After Science Finals...

Thursday, October 13, 2005

you can see that I posted this quite late as I have been working on the skins of some other blogs just now.

it is easier than the 2003 paper. though I think I messed chemistry up pretty badly. my chemistry has never been good anyway.

now that the exams that needs to be studied a lot are over, it is time to switch to partial-relaxation mode as there is only English Oral and CME left.

I am a bit worried for my English Oral. hopefully my tongue will stop screwing up and not cause me to stammer again. also I hope I can think of something to say about the picture and the conversation.

whats more I am the 8th in my room to be tested, an extremely long time to wait by any sense.

after English Oral I really dont have to worry much since there is only CME left. a bit of stuff to memorise and I am done with the end of year exams.

I should stop whining.

After Mathematics Finals...

Wednesday, October 12, 2005

making this quick post before I start studying science (even more studying -.-")

mathematics did not turn out as dificult as I thought it would be initially. it must be because the teachers knew many did badly for the past tests since many thought it was pretty simple.

even though I managed to do most of the questions (definitely an improvement, trust me), I feel I could have did better. I am unable to solve some of the questions because I did not study enough for that section. a most memorable one is that I did not notice I could use Pythagoras Theorem!

well enough about maths now. since maths ended later and I wanted to celebrate a bit before continuing to study, I have not really started on science. just looked at the CSS Sec 2 Express Science Final Year Exam paper 2003 and it seems surin does have high standards. he is gone though.

loh lo set this paper. her papers may not be as hard as surin's, but not to be underestimated as well. she has been known to cause a few "deaths" as evident from some of the common tests she set.

what is most irritating about science is there is hell a lot of stuff to memorise for it as well, now with the stupid scientific diagrams for the electricty adding to the confusion. and since elfie said it is important (meaning it will come out for sure), not to forget the acids and bases and chemical changes, it looks like I have a lot to remember again.

good thing tomorrow is the last (2nd last if you bother about the 45 minutse CME paper next monday) written exam for End of Year Examinations 2005. finally can take a break from memorising. I am overworking my brain these days.

oh and one more thing, no way am I gonna take triple science next year.

After Literature Finals...

Tuesday, October 11, 2005

now I have two more (okay lah three more if you include CME) written papers to go and English Oral before I reach the official closure of End of Year Examinations 2005. literature just ended today.

the first section is easy since it is on The Pearl. some more inside got a few answers is we do before already one. so generally all is smooth in this section.

however the second section is the unseen poem. that one questions very difficult. really must analyse a lot (and still dont know correct or not). many people also found the section two very difficult so I am not alone. heehee =D

tomorrow is maths! my worst subject will be tested tomorrow! this one is really hope I dont fail. since the workbook questions are rated three stars I should go attempt them. but the thing is they are quite difficult... who knows how the questions tomorrow will be like...

best of luck to me tomorrow..

After History Finals...

Monday, October 10, 2005

seems that I studied hell a lot of things that went to waste.

the exam tested mainly on the before, during and after WWII and Merger and Separation from Malaysia. so why did I study the rest for?

can say that my Source Based Questions were in a mess. had some difficulty understanding them. some more pressed for time so I am practically scribbling the answers on.

structured essays are not much better. the questions asked were so general that you practically recite the entire section of that chapter out (if you can remember that much that is)

I used a total of 5 pieces of paper which resulted in a drastic drop of ink level at the same time, so went to buy a pen at JP.

I feel so guilty walking around JP that I decided to come home instead and watch Bleach since I wont feel as guilty that way =P

tomorrow is Literature. I had better get enough sleep today or I cant think again.

Yay!

Saturday, October 08, 2005

Miraculously, I can now access Blogger at home! just in time for me to start posting exam updates (tee hee). I am taking a break from all that history now....

*overflowing facts running amok*

Allied POWs are sent to build the Death Railway, being imprisoned and made to do hard labour.......

Local civillians does not have a sufficient supply of food and fuel as the Japanese took most of them for their own use and have to make do with alternatives such as tapioca......

British Military Administration governs Singapore in the post WWII years from 12 September 1945 till 1 April 1946 when the British Government takes over......

Some of the immediate post-war problems are shortage of housing, shortage of food, disruption of water, electricity and gas services, unemployment, change of currency, disruption of education and poor housing conditions......

*remembers this is not the History Final Examinations*

I had better score 70 and above for history or I would be really really really disappointed.

well since exams are starting it means exams will be over soon. once English Oral is over I would not really worry too much.

CME is just a fraction of what I am memorising now for history so it is definitely no problem.

after CME exam (that ends at 8.45AM -.-") I dont have to go to school till friday for that week.

that means I can wait day and night for the next episode of Bleach to be out =D

as you can see I am trying to make myself brief. thus the one liners.

though it seems more like I am overparagraphing what I am typing.

so I better get back to history and think of a better way to post my after exam thoughts. teehee.

bye.

really.

and remember, learn Japanese! (at least an ad in the The Syonan Simbun 60 years ago says that)
