Life @ April 2009 Semester Finals

now that the final paper of the final exam (lol) is well out of the way, a little thoughts on it.
this CMA paper is in a pretty standard format that is similar to past year papers. not that difficult, but takes the energy out of you with its tedious calculations in preparing all the reports.
I know by now I definitely made a mistake with the application of the overhead because I forgot to apply it to all 3 sections of the non-traceable cost. that should be about 2-3 marks.
then I should also lose an assortment of a few marks at each theory question because you never know if you hit the point.
I am just glad it isnt a disaster like MIEC was without enough time and everything.
will prepare my review post within the next few days.

sorry for boring posts about the exam. I still remember the term 2 post that I will prepare by next week.
in day 2 of the war that is the semesteral finals, a dramatic twist of fate ensued, with the offensive clearly on the side of the opposition.
the Financial Management paper raised the toll of casualties, mainly because of my scattered careless mistakes that took out 1-3 marks each.
of course, nothing could win the mother of all armies, the time value of money question at a staggering 17 marks. while there are four major parts to it which are only partially interconnected and gives you chance to prevent a snowballing of mistakes, answers range from 3000+, 1000+, 500+, 300+, 100+ and even a particular 9.63.
what is even more interesting about it is that because the answers are all so diverse, nobody knew if anybody got the correct answer! I only know of one person who has the same answer as me.
I estimate a score between low B to an A for this one for me, mainly because of the amount of extremely dumb careless mistakes (when I was reviewing the paper just now I felt like slapping myself) and the unidentifed object that is the time value of money.
the final battle will take place at the top of the hill (literally since its the exam hall at Block 53 Level 8) on friday, which I am the least confident about. shall put the relatively generous amounts of preparation time to good use..

I can't even put a new picture now since my blog's control panel, just like most others, has raised its white flag, literally white since all I have are the links, not even the bluish brownish GUI.
and this merely adds to the collection that includes Baka-Tsuki (before I formatted my desktop), hotmail and facebook (not me yet touchwood!). the intrawebs is going mad!
okay my jokes are not even funny now. well how funny can you get when you are in the middle of the final exams? I decided to blog about it in my usual practice so I can keep track next time.
I havent posted for a while, not only because of this weird-shit lack of formatting internet pages that is becoming increasingly common, but also because I kinda lost steam at blogging long posts.
blogging was something that started for me in 2004. it has been 5 years and I am not the only one who appeared to be giving their blogs up for alternative mediums like twitter and facebook.
only difference is, I am not that active on twitter or facebook either! guess I just enjoy lazing around and procrastinating a lot.
but well I will definitely come up with a post to sum up the second term of April 2009, which is kind of a learning experience. and that is why I will make some effort to give it a closure in this diary of mine. I will get it up by the first week of the holidays before procrastination consumes me again and as a personal target.

with this prologue aside, lets move on to the "meat" of the day, the final exams.
my exam runs on the afternoons (and that is 2pm to 4pm by NP's regulations) of this Monday, Tuesday and Friday.
Human Resource Management is the first paper, surprisingly since content papers dont usually come early for me. usually its something with calculations like POA, BSTA or CMA.
I would say it went well. other than a mistake at my MCQ that I already know, I didnt really know any other major mistakes committed. this could of course be partly because nobody was discussing the paper. it seems most people didnt have much issues with it.
yes, its a pretty uneventful paper that I hope I will do well in, since I cant say that much about FMGT and CMA.
FMGT or Financial Management, is the paper scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. while I generally have an idea about it, I still have to do some proper practice, especially for Time Value of Money, which I will declare as my biggest enemy in the module.
it is really like maths, since the questions involve using a few basic formulas (just like maths) and yet manage to twist it in spectacular ways (just like maths) that the question is different everytime (just like maths).
I really hope for the best, since Time Value of Money has traditionally taken up one question or 1/5th of the total marks.
all this talk about FMGT is making me nervous already. off for some practice. you readers (yes all 3 of you thanks) will know how it went tomorrow.
