tomorrow is the start of Adam Khoo's I am Gifted, You Are Not... I mean, So Are You, course.
I wonder what evil tricks did our school employ to cut the price of the course by over 100% from a 4 digit to 3 digit figure.
after having three batches go through it, I had more or less heard what is it about by now. study skills like speed reading and notes taking and loads of jokes and fun before stirring you up emotionally to extreme levels and make you bawl like a crying baby on the third day, with mentions about treating your parents unfairly.
cannot wait to see what makes it so powerful and actually manages to motivate people to do well in their examinations.
heard the course ends at nearly 9pm daily. finally got chance to admire the night sky of pandan reservoir. lol.

having a long-running scam on a well-known product being exposed by 14 year old schoolgirls!
in this case this is Ribena of GlaxoSmithKline. News article here from CNA.
below is a condensed version of the full article.

School experiment sinks Ribena in court
The makers of Ribena pleaded guilty Tuesday to misleading the New Zealand public about the drink's health benefits after being exposed by two teenage girls in a school science experiment.
GlaxoSmithKline's embarrassment stemmed from a school science project done by Anna Devathasan and Jenny Suo, now 17, at an Auckland high school three years ago.
The multinational firm was fined 217,500 dollars (US$156,100) in the Auckland District Court for breaching fair trading laws with claims about the vitamin C content of the popular blackcurrant drink.
It was also ordered to run advertisements detailing the true contents of the drink sold in 20 countries worldwide.
Earlier the company admitted in court that its cartoned ready to drink Ribena had no detectable Vitamin C, despite claims it contained seven milligrams of the vitamin per 100 millilitres.
The company also admitted it may have misled customers in advertisements saying the blackcurrants in Ribena syrup had four times the vitamin C of oranges.
==
sorry to break your hope kids, but Ribena contains no Vitamin C at all, much less four times of it than those present in oranges.
cant wait to see how the correction advertisement of theirs will be like.

the old post about elfin's birthday present is back up after I finally realised.
EDIT: the girl in front isnt metiga but someone's ex-girlfriend classmate whom he used to sit beside called wenxin. thanks to chin hou for the heads up!
doing some blog hopping just now and chanced upon some girl called metiga's blog. metiga is metinee's uhh... twin^2 sister.
saw this photo in one of her camwhor.... zi lian posts. I swear I am not up to no good poking around others blogs.
anyway the focus of this photo isnt metiga, it is the girl behind her.

when I first saw it I thought she looked kind of familiar. so I just conveniently clicked on the youtube video she posted about her clique.
that girl indeed is doreen. oh, she is my classmate from K2 to P2 or plus minus one year. cannot quite remember.
she is in bukit view now and is a good friend of my ex-classmate. what a small world.

w00t happy 400th post!
I have been watching the hanakazarino kimitaichihe mediacock version.
I shall not comment about the lack of comic relief from an otherwise great show thanks to all the liberties mediacock took to save time.
they are nothing compared to the crap they gave just now as an ending. I dont know if it is the fault of the original manga author or of the screenplay writer for the TV adaptation, but I wish to tell them to come up with better endings than this.
a lame cliffhanger-kind-of-thing isnt even funny. sheesh.

added a prose-looking description of myself at the profile part since it looked rather empty with all that white space.
it seemed kinda lame and emo so I added a smiley face to neutralise the effect haha.
how you all find it ah? somehow I find "a girl he can call his own" sounding kind of wrong, like making her your slave or something.
of course I know all those who reads this blog should be 13 and above and understood what I meant la. right?
EDIT: I removed the smiley face and the spacings. it seems pretty stupid seperated into five lines.
==
I also updated that wishlists thingy. it is the first time I am including stupid things like this so you all should feel honoured that you can read it.
cant think of much yet. while these wishes are not ranked, things that cannot be bought with money are more valuable and important than those that are, so I seperated them into two stanzas.
==
cannot bring myself to do the likes and hates thing, otherwise it will be another generic "hates: backstabbers, liars, guys who pee with the toilet seat down" kind of thing.
and thus this should wrap up v9 of this blog. of course the wishlist will change according to progress of things but the other parts should see no huge change till the big 10 comes around.

dEsKOh91 v9.0

dEsKOh91's blog had its eighth skin on 11th October 2006. slightly over 5 months later, I thought it would be great to change it.
while I certainly liked the old design, the words "Partying your life away" on the top disturbed me since I used it. I am pretty certain I hardly party, much less party my life away. and I am not exactly in a partying mood for most parts of this year.
I am not getting totally stressed out from O Levels approaching and go freaking crazy burying my face in the various textbooks and burn myself out just before the papers. I thought it would be better if I am more serious, especially since those cambridge rich asses will get nearly 400 dollars from me just for some ink and paper.
==
this new design has a cute little girl from some anime that would not invoke sexual thoughts unless you are heading the michael jackson way.
I did notice the skin is kinda girlish, but since I am already done fine-tuning it by then, I did not really bother.
the tagboard space is kinda miserable too. took some resizing and colour coding to blend it into the new skin.
playing with the idea of throwing in a twitter. if I am feeling happy enough I will go get one and put it here.

as most students do, when you run out of things to blog about, you blog about your results. this is what I am gonna blog this time round.

in case you dont know, you can check your results online with your parents' IC number via nTrix.
==
this term is really luck that gave me such results as you can see.
1) the A Maths class test is different from what the cohort takes, and have trial test some more, allowing me to miraculously pass both my maths for the first time in upper secondary.
2) the E Maths class test of ours is rubbish la. we are hinted here and there throughout the course of the test. in fact two person in my class got full marks, including the bio rep.
3) only the common test score for biology is taken. if they added the class test in, the result would have been 42%. guess it is because of the poor performance of the cohort in that test.
4) the tests are on segments I am good at. it is writing for both english and chinese, SBQ for CH (not easier to write than SEQ, but no memory work), and loci for E Maths. if other things are added into the mix, the scores may drop significantly.
after considering all these factors, I consider myself performing only average for this term, such as in A Maths and Chemistry, my arch nemesis and achillies heel. I am still stuck in D7 to E8 region for Chemistry, while I did poorly in A Maths when comparing within class.
==
despite all these, I still find it quite a sense of achievement. since I am ranked top 10 in four subjects. this also proves how unbalanced I am, since I did significantly worse in other subjects.
this makes my choice of future education very difficult. I would much prefer a JC, but their curriculum have heavy emphasis on maths and science, both of which I am poor in.
if I head for poly, I can always go those business courses or mass com with good cut off, but competition will be pretty intense for uni, since only top 10% in cohort got the chance to.
first 3 months I shall head to JJ Arts. but I would waste the books. maybe I should work out some kinda agreement with a senior to pass me his/her books...
the singapore education system really disadvantages those who are weaker in maths and science. oh well.

half the holiday is gone so far.
actually it did not quite feel like holiday since I go to school daily, usually for remedials from 8+ to 11+ or so.
then I spend time in library talking to people who are clocking hours for the study log. I did very little work. it is not my fault though. the library is too conducive for slacking.
having the library near to the canteen plus a lenient librarian means you can buy snacks and eat them while studying and listen to music if you want to. seems to help many study. haha.
==
anyway my row of classes (4/3, 4/4, 4/5 and 4/8), which are those with collapsible walls, are having air conditioners installed.
no it is not for lesson time use. it is for O Levels where my batch will take our exams. heng ah. thought really no air con for O Levels.
but then only two per class. dont know cooling enough or not. some more all on left side of class one. must sit on that side during O levels.
==
somehow I quite enjoy such holidays, compared to being unproductive and rot at home, which will probably happen if not for that fact I am at school.
ta-da. new update done.

*taps microphone* ahem... testing testing 1 2 3 4... oh, hi!~ *sweeps dust off blog CP*
I havent blogged for an extremely long time due to a terrible lack of inspiration and meaningful events that happened in my life that will warrant an entry on the blog.
in case you are wondering, I still have no inspiration. I just thought I might find something filler to put here in case spider webs start growing around the blog.
lets talk about some stuff that happened recently.
==
sitting with gail in class for nearly two weeks already. at first I thought I will be in solitude without anyone to talk to and at the same time become the shooting dart of the entire school due to my strategic position in class next to one of the school belles.
luckily it did not materialise. gail is friendlier than she looks, and sitting with her is actually more interesting that sitting with some guys. not to be of any offence lah, but then its true that there is something to talk and laugh about once in a while.
but then I feel pretty embarrased today thanks to the incredibly interesting... ah. riddle. still cannot crack it though. haha.
==
and also, this is the year where the hope of the school, and the hell of those involved, take place, for CSS at least.
yes, it is the season of Singapore Youth Festival Central Judging!
people of my generation (I am entitled to such phrases since I am among the oldest in school) would remember the hellish training that stretches for hours and eats into curriculum time, much like the Esplanade concert of last year.
even though I am obviously not part of all this action, seeing them slog so hard simply for the third Sustained Achievement Award for Aesthetics also quite sympathise with them. the pressure of them to perform must be pretty intense.
oh, the dates, since I chanced upon the website just now while digging for information on CCAB. those that will interest CSS are:
Central Judging of Concert Bands (Sec)
Date : 9 - 12, 16 - 18 April 2007
Time : 9.00 am - 6.00 pm
Venue: Singapore Conference Hall
Central Judging of Choirs (Sec)
Date : 17-20, 25 - 27 April 2007
Time : 9.00 am - 6.00 pm
Venue: Victoria Concert Hall
Central Judging of Dances (Sec / JCs / CI)
Date : 3 - 5, 9 - 11, 16 - 18 and 23 - 25 April 2007
Time : 9.00 am - 6.00 pm
Venue: University Cultural Centre Hall
Central Judging of Drama (Sec)
Date : 2 - 5, 9 - 13, 16 - 20 and 23 - 27 April 2007
Time : 9.00 am - 6.00 pm
Venue: Catholic Junior College and Hwa Chong Institution
eh? no more Singapore Conference Hall? anyway, all the best to those involved.
==
talking about the Co-Curricular Activities Branch (CCAB), this is where Annual Games Day this year will be held.
it sure is well equipped considering it is just a division under Ministry of Education that manages CCAs and provides adventure camps support services.
already made plans for derrick's father to drive hwee shi, wei lei and I there on friday morning. to facilitate this, we even decided to camp at his house overnight. wonder if we would be preoccupied with his huge selection of games instead of getting enough rest...
instead of jerseys, seems our class getting pullovers. $28 some more. it had better be good.
