right, the title says it all.
it was originally only going to be dinner at seoul garden (which didnt happen as you will see later). somehow we decided on marina square branch.
since we are pretty early, we went suntec to walk a bit, and saw the signages for the singapore garden festival. what coincidence.

as you can see we decided to go and take a few looks.
below are some of the exhibits on display at level 6. level 4 exhibits are orchids and generally not as nice as these garden displays prepared by famous designers.

the above is by a Singaporean. the moving water that can be seen through the glass on the ceiling of the display and bubbles below them gives a very underwater feel. no wonder it is nominated the most popular and best in category.

can you see the face above?

we decided to eat at yuki no yaki instead since we saw it first. from what little jap I know yuki to (pronounced tou) yaki would probably be more correct but probably no one cares lol.
yuki is snow and yaki is burn (I think). embodies exactly what it is about. teppanyaki, steamboat and ice cream.
below you see us cooking some meat. too much butter apparently.

apparently the teppan they use for grilling can be cold as well. that is how you can DIY your own ice cream. the below photos are collected from different attempts so the colours keep changing.

you start with the flavour you want above...

pour it onto the teppan....

spread it out and flip it over quickly...

doing this a few times will eventally make the liquid slowly coagulate to slowly resemble ice cream.

this is how it looks like when it is nearly ready. it looks kinda disgusting, but it isnt as bad as you think.

so we finished 7 of them..
managed to board this Nokia Music Bus on 157. SBS2812L. must be a cameo I think.

main thing is the bus has got pretty comfy seats. see above and below.

too bad it sits only 31 I think. and I received no "Free music downloads" the ad promised if I turned on my bluetooth.
happy 4th month again!

this photo was pretty recent. May this year in fact. I finished my two piece chicken while mel was munching on her first. so you only see one piece of chicken left there lol.
anyway what I like about popeye's is their muffins, which is that breadish thing you see there. it is crispy outside but fluffy inside. damn nice.
but I digress. the main point of this post is about a few mcdonalds nuggets, so I dug out a fast food photo to show you all for fun.
today mel and I went shopping at Taman Jurong's Sheng Siong after school. you know the one at the Superbowl near the previous Tang Dynasty City.
we also bought 9 piece nuggets at mac. then after we finished and were leaving and still hungry for more nuggets, we saw this table with 3 nuggets untouched. and somehow we took it. HAHA.
kind of cold though. must have been there for a while. no food poisoning yet. thankfully.
anyway she bought bread and junk food and otah (lol). I bought some biscuits for those hunger pangs at night. the otah there is pretty good. you might wanna try.
damn didnt even touch DSS. felt so unproductive. tomorrow I promise.

okay post time. this time with some photos taken when mel and I went to take a look at the Singapore Flyer (and eat at Popeye's) during the June Break. pardon the lousy quality. phone cameras cannot take proper shots without good lighting. and no we didnt ride the flyer. maybe next time lol.
I will try and put a random photo or two with each post next time when I post. I have plenty of them anyway. seems to make things less boring.
onto serious stuff. remember I talked about how godlike the past few weeks had been? let me go into a bit of detail.
much of week 14 is dedicated to preparing the BMGT business proposal and DSS PBL2 for submission. I remember spending tuesday and thursday on BMGT and wednesday on DSS. stressful lol.
friday was a frantic rush to get BMGT submitted when jac, swee mun, hup song and i went to block 72 level 6 to print the proposal with annexes out during the short 1 hour break between IAC and LMS for me. hup song and I had to sprint to block 56 right afterwards and arrived at about 1.13 or something. just before being marked absent I think.
saturday was for Leo Club's induction day. you know something is wrong when the highlight of the event are the refreshments. but CCA points just for attending. dont complain so much haha. afterwards hup song, inez and I went atrium to rush out the PBL2.
we wanted to go ourspace at first. but apparently it is open till 10.30pm only on weekdays and not till sat as I originally thought. without inez and vishal hp I am in total panic. luckily inez saw my offline msg to her and came over. vishal couldnt come since he was apparently sick.
anyway it is somewhat productive la. we decided on the tasks to set and got about solving some of them. during that time I quickly did up the survey for IAC as well and asked jiayan to find ppl to do.
mel was also very pissed with me that day. but thankfully its all over now.
sunday even more stress. I did the IAC individual forum post right in the morning at 8am till nearly 10. already running late, I rushed down to Singapore Post Centre at Paya Lebar (from Jurong!) for the IAC interviews. I was late la. sorry! really didnt wanted to.
interview finished pretty smoothly and I went to mac downstairs for lunch and started doing my LMS final blog post. did halfway and went JE library to finish up. it was like 8+ when I am done and went for a late dinner at JEC.
at night, I put the finishing touches to PBL2 and finally submitted. tried to study for POA and do the tutorial but fell asleep anyway.
==
pause a while for some photos. these are shots nearer to the flyer.
some greenery?
the wheel up close...

had to meet christine on monday morning to get her individual IAC post for submission. so I went school early without mel and her sis. hastily studied for POA on my way to school. she came only at about 8.50 or so anyway and offered to hand up since her lesson starting late. then rushed upstairs for my POA tutorial and test.
went home early that day to study for jap speaking and writing test and BLAW class test all on tuesday. that is the day I made the short post about the gloomy weather and stuff.
tuesday started with BLAW class test and going through of tutorials. used the ~3 hours break to study for jap and prepare the PBL2 excel file for presentation. noticed quite a few bugs. zzz. too late anyway.
then its jap test after the lecture. reading test was okay. except I dont know difference between sore and are. I know one is further than the other but my teacher never told us how exactly is "far" and "very far". wth. 26/30 for that. writing test dont know yet. though I wrote everything they needed except that I wrote my katakana name wrongly. zz.
wednesday DSS presentation. everyone really dressed up for the occassion. made quite a few mistakes since some things didnt work out. yang's comments all very positive this time. queasy lol. but I am glad it is over.
thursday was for IAC presentation preparation. compiled survey findings into powerpoint. christine didnt have cable to transfer video to com. zz. so we cannot present.
chris and eliz were both sick and didnt come for LMS and IAC anyway. so our presentation was moved to next friday. more time to prepare the video haha.
chong chiang's group did surprisingly well for DSS. I thought they will just fool their way through, but they really interviewed a few of these foreign workers and understood their plight. they also supplemented the data with very interesting descriptions of the process of interviewing them. even the powerpoint was not bad. I am awed. seriously can see they had a lot of fun.
yvelyn's group was not bad too, considering they finished it in a night or so. there are subtitled videos and there is sufficient information presented about the topics.
dorcas's group seemed very dominated by michelle who kept talking and talking and talking without even looking at the slides. can see dorcas and durga wasnt too happy. but anyway they had survey results and word interviews to present as well. so its all fine and dandy.
typing about the past few weeks was tiring. it must be tiring reading them as well. so I will end off with shots of the floating platform that we went to during the same trip.

today was the earliest time I ever reached home since I entered poly. 3.30pm I think?
decided to come home early after lunch with mel to study and stuff. there is jap reading and writing test and business law's law of business organisations test just for tomorrow.
I am super busy for last week and this week over projects deadlines, tests and presentations, details of which I will go into this weekend when all the shit is over.
this is literally the busiest period I ever had in my life. even the O Levels period wasnt this intense. if week 5 and 6 of the previous term was bad, this had to be total shit. right now, it is like I am becoming emotionally exhausted but the end is still so near, yet so far.
anyway, back to my talk about reaching home early and the wet weather today. I havent really travelled during the non-peak hours in the afternoon for quite a while already. really kinda missed it. and its a rainy day. so its gloomy and darkish at home. but its cooling and extremely peaceful.
and it kinda got me in a very unique mood. it is a kind of sunk-in feeling that is extremely hard to describe and was a sensation that felt both good and bad. kinda close to emo but not quite there.
the feeling is fading away now that its night time and lights everywhere kicked in.
just felt like recording this very peaceful and quiet day down since it is really unlikely to have an early day off with such rain again.
now I should go back to whatever I have to study.

happened to hear At The Beginning on radio yesterday at KFC. so I randomly decided to look for my batch song.
I still think our batch song is very perfect. the first line is "we were strangers, starting out on a journey, never dreaming, what we'd have to go through".
it is just so apt for all of us back in secondary 1. when we were literally in the situation as the line describes. this song carries even more meaning since it the sec 1 orientation song for my batch.
it brings back many pleasant memories of lower sec days in the old school campus, at the row of classrooms at the bottom of the hill with 1/1 and 1/2.
memories of first day of school, when we were brought down to that row of classes and got accustomed to the new school and introduced to new teachers. back then I was wondering why are we so suay and got a class in a place so ulu.
memories of us racing up the hill after morning assembly, and racing down it during recess (since they are quite near each other actually).
memories of looking at the cars and people pass by up and down the sloping road near the level of the windows of the classroom. none of my classrooms after faced that slope any more.
of the multiple times some tried to run up the slope just outside class, seeing what is inside the gap right on the peak (it is just stones by the way).
of the serenity and coziness of the area, since that area is kinda sunk in compared to the surrondings and the corridoor serves only our 3 classes and seldom visited by unrelated people.
of the few remedial sessions (I had really really few remedials in sec 1. thank dorothy tay) I had there, especially the one before the day of the maths EOY by a trainee teacher (nice guy, but I forgot his name), when the class went to mac for lunch together.
in fact I had quite a few bits and pieces of the memories from the old school campus at this moment, but I am really too lazy to continue. and the main point is the song.
as we sang the song again during prom night, the last line was just as meaningful as the first. "In the end I want to be standing at the beginning with you.". how apt, as we all reached the end of our secondary school journey and enter another new beginning, no matter JC or poly, together.
this is really a powerful song that summarises the journey of our four years in that school on a hill (comparing the Jurong East and West Coast campus, I still feel I belong more to the JE one) extremely well.
so here is the song:
At The Beginning - Anastasia - Richard Marx & Donna Lewis
We were strangers starting out on our journey
Never dreaming what we'd have to go through
Now here we are and I'm suddenly standing
At the beginning with you
No one told me I was going to find you
Unexpected what you did to my heart
When I lost hope you were there to remind me
This is the start
(Chorus)
And Life is a road and I want to keep going
Love is a river I want to keep flowing
Life is a road now and forever
A Wonderful journey
I'll be there when the world stops turning
I'll be there whenthe storm is through
In the end I wanna be standing
At the beginning with you
We were strangers on a crazy adventure
Never dreaming how our dreams would come true
Now here we stand unafraid of the future
At the beginning with you
(Chorus)
I knew there was somebody somewhere
Like me alone in the dark
I know that my dream will live on
I've been waiting so long
Nothing's gonna tear us apart
(Chorus)
In the end I wanna be standing at the beginning with you
I would also add in a little on the batch dance. it wasnt as meaningful or special as At The Beginning, in fact it probably had no meaning except that we learnt its dance. But Natural is still memorable cos it is still my batch dance LOL.
Natural - S Club 7
Loving you is not just luck or illusion
It's in the make-up of our DNA
It's not by chance we make the perfect solution
Don't fight it baby, you know that it's just destiny's way
Baby lovin' you
Comes easily to me
It's what I'm living for
It's all in the chemistry
Baby lovin' you
Is how it's meant to be
It's something that is oh so natural to me
Natural
We got the answers but there's no explanation (no explanation)
We got each other baby come what may (come what may)
It's in the science, it's genetically proven (genetically proven)
Cos when you touch the reaction it just blows me away
Baby lovin' you
Comes easily to me
It's what I'm living for
It's all in the chemistry
Baby lovin' you
Is how it's meant to be
It's something that is oh so natural to me
Natural
Turn off the light, lay your head next to mine
Take it slowly, a step at a time
C'mon get close, closer to me
It's oh so natural, it's oh so easy to see
Baby lovin' you
Comes easily to me
It's what I'm living for
It's all in the chemistry
Baby lovin' you
Is how it's meant to be

woohoo update time.
cleared LMS, IAC and BLAW projects last week. okay, it is only the part 1 for IAC but whatever.
we did a skit on this dude who got caned 8 times instead of the 5 he was sentenced to. then they sue the police. it was super rushed. I did the ppt on the weekends after SYF (more on SYF later) and we didnt even rehease.
randall say we forgot to talk about home ministry. then I tell him the article specified clearly he suing prisons'. then he say we should have found another less general case. then I say its our first time and we didnt know the depth we had to go into. haha.
IAC part 1 was done on the thursday evening can. and my IAC was on friday morning. anyway my group people are quite reliable so they gave me enough inspiration to write whatever it is out. we got a good grade for that part thankfully.
LMS was going to be a disaster at first. we were only rehearsing in the classroom next door to our LMS class an hour before and we cant get things right. me for instance is plunged into total chaos with the fake clock, the powerpoint slides showing the various places, narration and sound effects at one point.
I think its chris's suggestion of putting the timer right into the powerpoint that resolved the problem so instantly. we were commended for the use of pictures and times in powerpoint to complement the skit.
sometimes I think my IS group is really powerful. they have all the wacky ideas and connections to make many projects really successful. though I must say trying to arrange for a meeting is always a bitch since two of them are working. but we still ploughed through two LMS group assignments anyway s0 its ok.
this is just a random project update. I am just really glad last week was over. this week can catch some breath before BMGT submission and MAEC CT next week.
tomorrow is the hiragana test. and I havent studied. haha. had enough of that subject. I just dont have that level of commitment.
