Visit to SGH and Jurong 5 Year Town Renewal

Sunday, March 26, 2006

as my grandma went to hospital due to an infection while undergoing peritoneal dialysis. so my parents and I decided to pay her a visit together with my aunt.

she is admitted to Singapore General Hospital. so we decided to take the shuttle bus from Outram Park MRT Station that will take us there.

alighted at the entrance to Singapore General Hospital Blocks 2 and 3.

Block 1 is the Accident & Emergency block so of course you cannot alight there. Block 2 and 3 is the Outpatient Specialist Clinics. so it is one of the more prominent blocks of SGH.

Singapore General Hospital has a lot of specialised doctors in almost every aspect of healthcare, making it one of the largest hospitals in Singapore with 8 blocks.

and thus I began my journey to Block 6 where my grandma is. by the way, all the SGH blocks are joined by walkways and signs are everywhere so it is not so easy to get lost.

along the way, I saw...

hopefully no one has to visit the Center of Assisted REproduction (CARE) centre.

and I walked on and on and on...

to the left now...

the food court in between Block 5 and 6. the food is blander than what you find normally. guess it is because it is an hospital. it is also where we had breakfast. (we arrived there at about 9am).

interesting structure just beside the food court. the water looks horribly dirty and whitish though.

finally!

I am not allowed to use the phone in the wards as instructed by the nurses. plus it is my grandma anyway so I guess it does not concern you all. fast forward to the trip back...

my parents went off at about 10+ but I left only at about 12+ as I still have to go my grandma house to perform some maintanence on my uncle's computer.

thank you and have a nice day!

cannot board the first shuttle bus as it is full. the bus passed by National Cancer Centre before reaching Outram Park and I took the MRT to Jurong East where I saw this...

(taken at 2.5x zoom)

it is the completion of the 5 years town renewal program in areas managed by Jurong Town Council. I dont live within that constituency so I did not really care.

look at the amount of people there!

our education minister, mr tharman. he is really tall, probably as tall as bryan. I am not trying to be racist here but one of the reasons making him look so dark.

in case you are interested, Singapore General Hospital is managed by SingHealth. (me and my obsession with large companies managing small companies...)
