IT Show 2006

Sunday, March 12, 2006

I went for the show yesterday after another Spod meeting in two weeks. main purpose is to see how much are they selling Sandisk Memory Stick Pro Duo 1GB for my K750i.

and all pictures are taken with K750i this time round. the 6230 has served its role well but it had to be phased out due to its limited photography capabilities.

didnt take much pictures this time round since all you will really see is people, people and more people and I cant stay still long enough to not be pushed along.

took the train from Jurong East MRT Station since the meeting is held at Jurong Regional Library.

there is hell a lot of people there. everyone scrambled for the escalator at the City Hall MRT Station.

the long walkway along Citylink Mall to suntec is experiencing a rather bad jam as well.

crossing the overhead bridge makes it even worse. it took a full 10 minutes before I made it across that bridge. some more the air there is clogged with the dust from the Circle Line Stage 1 works just under the bridge

I finally arrived!

IT Show 2006 spans three levels, namely 3, 4 and 6. the number jumped once because the height of level 4 is equal to two levels. that applies to level 6 as well.

level 3 is actually made for meeting rooms. there is only an empty walkway along the right side. nintendo and microsoft set up their booths there

microsoft is letting everyone try their Xbox 360. you have to queue to get in so I just took a picture

level 4 is where all the big names are. they have huge signs hanging everywhere to catch your attention. there is also lots of brochures and plastic bags to collect so I took them =D

Creative has a large booth showing some of their speakers and MP3 and video players.

Samsung got a even bigger booth showing about everything they have. they got chiobus to give you brochures =D

also found a Xbox 360 playing some DVD movie over at their booth.

OEM computer manufacturers like Dell and HP Compaq are there as well. HP Compaq girls dont look as nice but they have the girl next door look.

dell and HP photos are taken at 2x zoom.

Singnet and Starhub, our two favourite ISPs in Singapore are at IT Show as well.

it seems hubbers would experience even better gaming with MaxOffline soon with 2500ms pings looking at the queues.

singnet looks worse though, both sides of their booths are totally jammed despite seperating their queues into New Customers and Recontracts.

knowing that Singnet Broadband people would soon have hell to suffer makes me happy.

level 6 is where all the small fries are. they are mainly vendors from Sim Lim Square and Funan selling some of their stuff at discounted prices over there.

but the strange thing is there are education companies...

banks...

credit card companies...

newspapers...

and even cars! (it is not lucky draw, it is a real car company setting up a booth there)

anyways, went over to Active Foto & Electronics since I heard many mentioned they are selling Sandisk 1GB MSPD real cheap there.

after a good 15 minutes of jostling around, I finally found it.

and yes, those memory sticks are really cheap. Sandisk 1GB MSPD at S$85.90 only!

JP PK Computers price them at 98 for 1 year warranty (note: fake Sandisk MSPD)
JP Comics Connections quoted me 129 with 5 years warranty from VM (real ones)
Westmall Harvey Norman told me 145 for the real ones.
Westmall Cyberactive sells them at 125 for the real ones as well.
Sim Lim Square's stores sell them at approximately 105.

of course I got one for myself =D that guy thought I wanted to steal the card. I just wanted to walk to the counter -.-"

after getting the MSPD, I walked around collecting all sorts of freebies at level 4 before I finally left at about 3.30pm. a shot of the human movement then.

the way back home is even worse, the returning queue across the bridge is even longer. after reaching the other side, it seems those scumbags wanting to go to the Show used 3 lanes, leaving only 1 lane for the returning people. where's the humanity you ask. into the pockets of those people at the IT show I guess.

interesting advertising gimmick from starhub along Citylink Mall on my way back.

and this ends my photolog. it took me only 20 minutes to create this! I am getting good!
